We are delighted to invite you to an indigo-dyeing workshop with Paola Hernández at 180 the Store in Amagansett. Taking place on Saturday August 29th (rain date August 31st), this hands-on workshop is an opportunity to explore indigo tie-dyeing and create an oversized cotton shirt to take home with you.

In a relaxed one-hour workshop, Paola will introduce you to indigo dyeing. She will demonstrate a range of tie-dye techniques, including folding and binding, that can be applied to fabric to create variation and pattern.

You will then apply these techniques to an oversized cotton shirt to take home with you, creating a piece that is unique to you. The goal of this workshop is to give you both the practical skills and basic understanding needed to incorporate indigo dyeing into your own creative practice. All materials are included to dye one shirt.

Born and raised in Mexico City, Paola is an American fashion designer based in New York City. She studied philosophy at Universidad Iberoamericana before training in fashion at Central Saint Martins in London. Her work is deeply connected to mindfulness, movement and handwork, with practices such as yoga, meditation, knitting and dyeing informing the way she thinks about clothing and its place in daily life.

Paola’s brand is rooted in the expansion of consciousness and a considered approach to sustainability. Each piece is designed and produced in New York City, often using one natural material, such as merino wool or cotton, chosen for softness, comfort and longevity. “Fashion is the manifestation of collective consciousness in everyday life, always moving forward,” says Paola. “A garment is constantly evolving even after the design process is finished. The styling choices of the person wearing it give each piece a different interpretation each time.”
